KCC Review: Beast Fan meet 2015 ‘Ordinary'

Dazzling, fun-filled and interactive. Those are the three words that I would describe the Beast ‘Ordinary’ fan meet that took place on 24 September 2015. It was a wonderful night filled with fun, games and good music. The atmosphere in the concert at Suntec City Convention Centre was already pumped up even before the idols themselves came onto the stage. You could see fans wearing LED headbands, wristbands and holding LED boards lighted with the members’ names. Elisha and I, representing the Korean Cultural Club of SJI Senior School, were amazed and excited for the performance to start! When the show finally kicked off, you could hear the wild screams and gushing over the boys, and I was in disbelief— Beast was finally right before our eyes! The fan meet featured hit songs like “I Have To Go To Work” and “YeY” and even my favourite, “12:30”! The boys gave their best and showed off their slick dance moves on stage as fans bobbed their heads and danced to the awesome music. Fans even climbed onto their chairs to get a better view of the boys and the whole atmosphere was so hyped up. When the interactive time for both the fans and the boys came, the fans that were previously chosen for the games were hugged by the boys and at that very moment, you could see that the other fans were all green with envy as Yoseob slung his arm over a fangirl’s shoulders! Elisha and I were just groaning in mock pain and how I wished I could have been chosen there and then! It was utterly regretful. The games started with a quiz to test how well the boys knew about Singapore; they got most of the questions correct, albeit with the fans’ help! The next game was a pairing game, where the chosen fans had to guess the songs that the boys were humming to. It was hilarious as the whole hall roared with laughter after laughter, as the boys tried to mimic the songs that were being played in their headphones. With Hyunseung sounding like a seal and Yoseob trying his best not to sound like one, I could not help but burst into laughter myself too. The boys were really friendly and tried to interact with the crowd as much as they could, with one of them saying that it had been too long since they were in Singapore. I wanted to shout at the top of my lungs: “YES, IT HAS BEEN THREE LONG AND AGONISING YEARS.” However, this fan meet was a dream come true, making up for the last three years. The songs and performance was amazing, the boys seemed happy and there was quite a lot of ‘fan service’, what more could I have asked for?

All in all, it was a fun-filled night that left me satisfied and happy. I would give this fan meet a rating of 5 out of 5, with its whole smooth transition, awesome and comfortable venue, and most of all, for bringing Beast to Singapore! SJI KCC would like to sincerely thank Three Angles Production and iMe SG for sponsoring us the VIP tickets, and for organising such a well-run and wonderful fan meet that was a dream come true.

The Beast fanmeet was a memorable experience for me as it was the first time going to a Korean concert and it was even better due to the fact that the tickets was sponsored. Not only did Beast put up a fantastic performance, the MCs did a good job in hyping up the audience too. Halfway through the concert, there was an interaction time for Beast to interact with their fans. The games played were related to Singapore, such as Beast had to sing a Singapore song and those lucky fans chosen had to guess the title of the song and also Beast had to choose out of 4 pictures, which of the pictures represents Singapore. I feel that such games had enabled Beast to know more about Singapore and for me, I realized that Singapore should do more to connect both countries together so that as Singaporeans, we will be able to know more about Korean culture and for Koreans, they will be able to know more about our multi racial country. Currently, the Hallyu Wave is very famous in Asia and not to say Singapore, hence many groups have been holding their concerts in Singapore all year round. Therefore, I feel that this is a step taken by Korea to further spread their culture overseas and for us fans who goes to their concert, we will be able to have fun and personally experience the Korean culture.

I am really thankful for Three Angles production and iMe SG for sponsoring the tickets, and for organising such a amazing and impressive fan meet for us, kpop fans who never had the chance to look at our idols up close. The whole fanmeet was such close-up experience, one that I have never experienced before. The size of the venue was just right for us to get close with our idols, enjoy their presence and have fun. It was a memorable experience and a dream come true for me.
